Black Bottom Biscotti

Black Bottom Biscotti is the passion project of former police officer Sophia Jordan. The passion began when she first tasted biscotti from a neighborhood bakery and she immediately fell in love. But then that bakery stopped making it and she had to find a way to have it again. So, she started experimenting with recipes and eventually landed on one that she was happy with. She used most of her free time out of work to perfect her recipe and eventually the passion turned into a business. She worked hard on her career and her new business. She was awarded police officer of the year while working full time with her bakery business. The biscotti business grew and grew and eventually she retired from the police department and committed her new found time to continue building the biscotti business. It really is a family affair as her son, daughter, and grand daughter all help out around the shop. While we were there filming for the video featured below, there were three generations working side by side in the kitchen!

Sophia first brought biscotti in for us to try and we were instantly interested in utilizing her product. I asked if she could do additional items for ice cream, to which the answer was yes, and Sophia has become our primary out-sourced pastry chef. She makes cookies, pies, shortcakes for sundaes, and an enormous amount of other items like bread pudding, cheesecakes, crisps, corn bread, coffee cake, zucchini bread, candied orange peels, and the list goes on and on. She even has made potato candy for us & has helped me make rhubarb pie filling when I was overwhelmed with prepping produce. I don’t know what we’d do without Sophia!

Here’s the short film we produced about Sophia and her amazing story:
